Testing zero touch installation and uninstallation of several apps via DSCM

In this video, I demonstrate how to perform unattended installations of multiple software applications, specifically Notepad++, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome on Windows workstations within an Active Directory (AD) domain. Leveraging the capabilities of Windows Server and DSCM, this process enables zero-touch deployment, ensuring that software installations are consistent and require minimal manual intervention.

Key Highlights:

  • DSCM - DSCM is a framework that allows administrators to define the desired state of their systems, including software installations and configurations. By specifying the required state, DSCM ensures that all systems comply with these configurations, automating the deployment process and reducing the potential for errors.
  • Unattended Software Installation - By utilizing DSCM, we can automate the installation of applications without user interaction. This method is particularly beneficial in enterprise environments where deploying software across numerous workstations is necessary.
  • Zero-Touch Deployment - The process showcased in the video eliminates the need for manual installation on individual machines. Once configured, DSCM handles the deployment automatically, ensuring that applications like Notepad++, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome are installed uniformly across all targeted workstations.
Benefits of This Approach:
  • Consistency - Ensures that all workstations have the required software installed in a standardized manner.
  • Efficiency - Reduces the time and effort needed to deploy software across multiple machines.
  • Scalability - Easily scales to accommodate additional workstations or applications as organizational needs evolve.
